Animal classification

Today we learned about how animals are classified into groups. Animals are either vertebrates (which means they have a spine) or invertebrates which don't have a spine).

Vertebrates are put into five groups. The are mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians. Mammals have fur or hair and give birth to live young.
Birds have feathers and lay hard eggs. Reptiles are cold-blooded and lay soft eggs. Amphibians breathe through their skin and need to keep their skin moist. Fish breathe through gills and have fins .

5 examples of each type:

Mammals:Cow, Horse, Bear,Dog, Human

Reptiles:snake,lizard,alligators,chameleons and a skink

Amphibians:newt,frog,toad,salamander and a caecilian.

Fish:seahorse,squid,blowfish,shark and a dolphin

Birds:eagle, rooster, ostrich, woodpecker and a peacock.

Ina and the Shark slide

Today me and my friend made a slide show about a myth about the Cook islands called Ina and the Shark. We made this slide because it was based on a pacific myth and decided to make a slide about it.
